*Click for the flyer*  Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees (BCFPE) president John Ripley has scheduled a meeting to discuss the Baltimore County Correctional Officers' Bill of Rights. The bill was proposed in Maryland’s last legislative session, but was not passed. BCFPE plans to promote the bill’s passage in the 2014 legislative session in Annapolis.

House Bill 1475, the Baltimore County Correctional Officers Bill of Rights received a favorable report from the House Appropriations Committee, passed the full House, and now goes to the Senate.

Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees (BCFPE) president John Ripley and Retired Correctional Lt. Mike Craig testified in favor of this bill, which proposes that a more fair and equitable administrative process be adopted for the  investigation, interrogation, and disciplinary and appeals procedures used by and for the correctional officers for Baltimore County.
 

Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees (BCFPE) member Brian Amereihn has been named Baltimore County Department of Corrections Rookie of the Year.

Amereihn graduated with an overall Department of Corrections examination score of 95.4 percent. Last July, he was recognized for his efforts if deescalating a potentially explosive situation. Amereihn is pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
 

The Baltimore County Delegation of the Maryland legislature gave House Bill 1475, the “Correctional Officers Bill of Rights,” a favorable vote March 15.
