National Public Safety Telecommunication Week is April 14-20, 2024

This week, we honor the men and women who answer our 911 calls. These telecommunicators are the first responders who we rely on in our time of need. They are the first to hear our cries for help, and they are the first to dispatch the necessary emergency personnel to our aid.

There are so many points of uncertainty for workers across the nation that many turn to their union for a sense of certainty and security. The Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees (BCFPE) Local 4883, has continuously been a source of security for members. One hallmark of the stability the union has been able to provide members is reaching tentative agreements that secure solid pay, much desired benefits, and presenting them before the body with enough time and resources to engage in the democratic process of approving any collective bargaining agreement. 

BCPFE continues in that tradition with its recently reached tentative agreement with the county. Read on for more!

BCFPE Executive Board election ballots were counted on Friday, September 29, 2023.

UPDATE: At the Nov. 2, 2023 scheduled Executive Board meeting, members voted unanimously to appoint Ben Little to the vacant Area 2 Vice President position, and Danielle Drell to the vacant Area 5 Vice President position. Ben and Danielle will serve out the remainder of the term.

On June 8, 2023 at the scheduled BCFPE Executive Board Meeting and at the September 1st General Membership Meeting, membership were notified of the pass thru dues increase for both the state and national federations and AFL-CIO CLC. The pass thru dues increase totals $1.49 cents per pay making the BCFPE dues deduction a total of $26.92 per pay effective October 1, 2023.

The BCFPE membership has agreed to a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Baltimore county that comes with unprecedented gains for county workers. The agreement gives county workers in the bargaining unit scheduled cost of living adjustment (COLA) increases for pay schedules 1, 1C, and 1E for fiscal year (FY) 2024. Additionally, there will be guaranteed schedule Steps and Longevities for FY24 and FY25, guarantee of no furloughs or layoffs for FY24 and FY25, as well as grade increases and added 13-year longevity for pay schedule 1C and 1E.
