BCFPE Seeks Inclusion Under Correctional Officers Bill of Rights

Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees (BCFPE) President John Ripley is scheduled to testifying before the Baltimore County Delegation in Annapolis March 8, in support of House Bill 1475, the Correctional Officers Bill of Rights.

House Bill 1475 proposes that a fair and equitable administrative process involving investigation, interrogation, and the imposition of discipline and appeals procedures be adopted for the correctional officers of Harford County. At present, correctional officers in Cecil, Garret, and St. Mary’s counties utilize such procedures. The bill proposes adding Harford county to that list, and president Ripley will testify that Baltimore County also should be included among the counties that use such procedures.

The expansion of the “bill of rights” to Harford and Baltimore counties will mean that correctional officers in those counties will benefit from more equitable and professional disciplinary procedures.
