Obituary for William Eaton Jr.

William Edward Eaton, Jr. of Parkville, age 51 passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 after a yearlong battle with lung cancer with family at his side. Bill was born in Baltimore and grew up on the waterfront in Essex, MD. He graduated in 1984 from Eastern Vocational-Technical High School having studied plumbing. After graduation Bill worked for local plumbing contractors and then Baltimore Gas and Electric for several years in their gas division before moving to Akron, Ohio in 1989. In Ohio, Bill worked for Dominion East Ohio Gas installing gas meters in homes and commercial properties. While in Ohio he also owned his own business, B & B Natural Gas Lines installing residential gas lines. In 2001, Bill returned to Maryland and began working for Baltimore County Recreation and Parks as a grounds maintenance seasonal employee. Bill was a dedicated employee and continued to apply for promotions and advanced to become Property Management Grounds Maintenance Supervisor at the Sparrows Point Grounds Maintenance Shop. Throughout the varied aspects of his career Bill earned many awards and commendations from his employers and customers.

In 1984 Bill earned the rank of Eagle Scout as a member of Troop 745 at Essex United Methodist Church. He continued in scouting as an adult assisting with his son's troop in Ohio. He also assisted with his daughter's soccer teams. Throughout Bill’s life, he had many passions including fishing, hunting, and riding his Harley. Bill was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, and served as President of the Baltimore Browns Backers for several years. Most Sundays he could be found watching the Browns games at Glory Days. Bill rarely missed a game, and when he did, he was usually working a wine festival out of town.

Bill was happiest catching rockfish on the bay, and spending quiet time in the woods hunting, where he felt most at peace. He enjoyed time with his family, especially holiday gatherings, family reunions, cookouts, and attending special events with his children and nephews. Some of Bill's favorite places to camp were Indian Springs in the mountains and Pocomoke State Park on the Eastern Shore. When camping Bill enjoyed relaxing around the campfire with family or friends.

A loving father, Bill was most proud of his children and the young adults they have become. He was a proud grandfather, affectionately known as Poppy. Though he didn't see his grandkids often because of distance, he loved talking to them by phone and showing pictures of them to everyone.

He is survived by his wife Carol Ann Allen, son William Edward Eaton, III, daughters Kristie Lynn Eaton, and Abbigail Kay Lee Eaton, step-daughter Laura Medoff, and her husband Joshua, step-daughter Lisa Kessler; son of William Edward Eaton and Elaine Saeger Eaton; brother of Pamela Catlin and her husband Rob, Theresa Hunger and her husband Michael, and Jennifer Eaton Lane; grandfather of Adiannah, and Justin Little, Jr., and Rylan, Luke, and Grace Medoff; uncle of Adam Hunger and Rory Lane. Many other family members survive Bill, including aunts, uncles, and cousins here in Maryland and Ohio. A caring and generous man, Bill also had many friends and coworkers that will deeply miss him.

Please join us on Saturday, September 29, 2018, when the family will receive friends from 10-11 am, followed by a Celebration Of Life service at 11 am at Loch Raven Presbyterian Church, 9318 Old Harford Rd., Parkville, MD 21234. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Bill wished memorial contributions be made to any of the following organizations: The American Red Cross; Navy-Marine Corp Relief Society; Combat Wounded Coalition; Loch Raven Presbyterian Church; or a domestic abuse women's shelter.
