In the spirit of giving, consistent with the holiday season, members of the Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees (BCFPE) joined with AFL-CIO sisters and brothers to aid in the distribution of food and toys to families in need during the holiday season. President John Ripley and others were a part of the team putting together packages and handing out food and toys leading up to the Christmas Holiday.

Joining President Ripley at the event were Brian Reed and Arley Scott. Scott was able to offer resources to one AFL-CIO member that were beneficial to her and her child. The group worked

On August 4, 2016 at the scheduled BCFPE Executive Board Meeting & June 22nd General Membership Meeting, membership were notified of the pass thru dues increase for both the state and national federations. The pass thru dues increase totals $0.37per pay making the BCFPE dues deduction a total of $23.96per pay effective September 1, 2016.  

We understand this is a tough year for all employees and considered every alternative. The increase is a pass-through to cover the monthly increases raised by our AFT-Maryland and AFT National affiliations.

BCFPE will hold its next GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. at the BCFPE Office.  There will be a Union Update, including updates on the FY2017 thru FY2019 MOU, Healthcare, Legal Benefits, Dues increase, and more.

The 2016 AFT National Convention in Minneapolis, MN was one for the ages. Not only was it the 100th anniversary of the union, but there were a number of high profile elected officials and social justice activists that addressed the convention. The members even took to the streets themselves to put the rhetoric into action. The AFT-Maryland delegation was not only well represented but they also had a strong impact on the presentations and displays during the convention.
