Stewards Training

Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees (BCFPE) trained a new group of stewards in the union’s office on Tuesday May 23, 2017. The stewards learned a lot about their union and its function. Many of them told stories of workplace bullying and harassment from superiors while also noting the difference in the behavior of management when a union official was present and when one was not. Those in attendance came from a number of county agencies including corrections and the 911 call center.

AFT-Maryland Field Staff Representative Frank Pratka led the morning portion of events which also featured a presentation from the AFT-Maryland Political Coordinator, Todd Reynolds. Following a delicious lunch provided by BCFPE, AFT Director of Public Employees, Chris Runge presented on what the union does nationally for all of the public employee members. BCFPE President John Ripley was on hand to talk to and engage the new stewards, sharing with them the urgency and necessity of what they’ll be doing at their worksites.
