Due to the challenging economic duress we are currently experiencing, the BCFPE Executive Board has voted unanimously to absorb the pass-through increase (AFT, AFT-Maryland) at this time. (click title to read more)

As many of you are aware, BCFPE and two other  locals, AFSCME and FOP, were unable to reach settlement on the extension language that was requested by the County that included concessions.  We are continuing negotiations with the County to resolve these issues and feel confident that we will be able to reach a new contract before FY2013.  BCFPHN was not requested to make the same concessions being asked of the other unions in return for layoff and furlough protections. July 2011 A County Employee with 14 years of service is reinstated after being suspended pending termination.  Union reaches an agreement with the County to have termination reduced to a reasonable suspension under well defined progressive discipline principles.

April 2011 A County Employee with 15 years of service is reinstated after being suspended pending termination.  Union reaches an agreement with the County to have termination reduced to a reasonable suspension under well defined progressive discipline principles.

March 2011 A County Employee with 6 years of service is reinstated after being suspended pending termination.  Discipline was immediately reduced to a reasonable three-day suspension with Union involvement.
