Pursuant to the BCFPE constitution, if you are a member in good standing and wish to, you may volunteer for the Election Committee to accept nominations for Board Members. Please submit your name to Frank Pratka at fpratka@aftmd.org by May 7, 2020. The BCFPE Executive Board will make the selection of committee members.

Your union urges you to support one of our own, Danielle Singley, for the employee elected member position on the Personnel and Salary Advisory Board for Baltimore County. Singley has worked for the county for a decade, and in her time she has worked shoulder-to-shoulder with other county employees to deliver high quality service from the Department of Aging. May 23, 2019 - Ratification Vote Passes
On May 23, 2019 a contract ratification vote took place at the BCFPE office at 305 W. Chesapeake Ave., Towson, Maryland 21204 from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Based on the vote results, the BCFPE one-year contract extension was ratified by an 87.1% vote. Special thanks to all members who took time out of their busy schedules to vote.

Members gathered in the union office for the BCFPE general membership meeting. After snacking on meatballs, chicken nuggets, a fruit platter, and cookies, those in attendance got down to the business of the union. The membership meeting was made up of a diverse cross-section of the bargaining unit. President John Ripley noted that reclassification is an important issue for many in the union. He also noted that most often, reclassification doesn’t come from negotiations but rather reviews of job classifications by the county government.

Union leaders often make sacrifices. The sacrifice isn’t always wading into nearly freezing water, but that’s what Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees President John Ripley and his team did in the 2020 MSP Polar Bear Plunge. The BCFPE team raised money for the athletes who compete with Special Olympics Maryland. All told, Team BCFPE Local 4883 Labor for Love raised more than $5,300. President Ripley alone raised more than $2,500.
